The kid is crying harder…mostly because he’s wondering who the hell I am. So I sit the crying kid down on the bench next to her and he immediately jumps down and runs to the cousin I crossed paths with earlier.Yeah. Well, if there weren’t pascel (wink to Cousin Jethro) of kids running around I might be able to keep track of who belongs to who…Part of the problem is that I forget I’m an adult sometimes. For example, when my 14-yr-old neice asked if she could drive me around the field in the golf cart I thought that was a great idea. (It was only smoking a little.) They took my grown up badge away and I ended up eating at the kids table for dinner that night.More later… link
I laughed through season one’s The Crackpots and These Women, I was thrilled and amazed by The Stackhouse Filibuster, an episode in season two that remains my favorite even to this day, and I cried in the season three finale Posse Comitatus when Secret Service Agent Simon Donovan (aka the one and only Mark Harmon) was killed. Can you tell I’m obsessed? My only question is, historically congressmen (senators or representatives) have not had great success making the transition into the White House, will the writers ignore history and let this happen, or will they as they have in the past stick true to history??Now, I realize that if you’ve never watched The West Wing , I have thoroughly confused you and caused a great deal of boredom, but I just wanted to give my two-cents on the situation and encourage you all, if you care at all about history and politics, to give the show a minute of your time. link
-ne This type of late season closeness is a new thing for me - in my baseball life the Sox have never won the AL East, and in truth, there has never even been a close race in the East involving the Sox in my ten years.Given how tight the East and the Wild Card race are (the Oakland A’s have just lost to the Rangers and are now 4 back with 7 to play, while the Indians loss today to the Royals today puts them 3 back in the loss column of the White Sox) people are beginning to consider just how many play-off scenarios exist - MLB.com presumably keeps this story in storage and just changes the team names as required. link
The trek was to be 23 kilometers (about 13 miles) by minibus â and expected to take an hour (you figure out the average speed). The roads started off narrow enough, but cars could pass us coming downhill, we only needed to slow a bit. As we continue upwards, looking down the side of a steep hill, with hardly a tree anywhere, a feeling of queasiness comes over you â there are no guard rails, all thatâs between you and the edge is about 3 feet of curving, partially paved, roadway with no shoulder in most places. Finally, after just a bit over an hour we arrive at the rest house, called Dulahi Camp at elevation 7,500 feet â in fact it is a small lodge of sorts, perched on a knoll â but not the top of the hill, overlooking the rivers and city some 5,300 feet below. There apparently is another attraction 4 â 5 kilometers farther up this road â so we trek onwards. In another 15 minutes or so, weâve arrived at a radio transmission relay station â elevation 9,500 feet (purportedly â independent verification is pending). The highlight of the evening was a presentation of live music â the first ever production of this proportion in Free Kashmir, what an honor to be included. The music was not fully understandable because of the language, but from the looks on the faces of the audience it was obvious that she was reaching them â and it amazed me how she was able to span generations â there were older folks and young folks who both equally enjoyed her and knew her songs. We also learned after she was done that this singer was a friend of our host â she acknowledged our presence as âhonored guestsâ and thanked us in English for sharing the event with the citizens of the region. I spoke to the flute player and the singer both afterwards â they were quite gracious and very appreciative of our compliments.Again this evening we returned to the rest house some time near 1 AM and collapsed â what a full day. link
